  • substantially reduced state debt to ease the financial burden on our homeowners, seniors, and working families
  • Supporting our seniors by expanding tax exemptions on retirement income and Social Security
  • Championed tax exemptions for disabled veterans



STANDING UP FOR OUR COMMUNITY:

  • Passed legislation to deal with catalytic converter thefts
  • Capped car taxes for Waterbury residents and businesses at 32.4 mills

WINS FOR WATERBURY:

  • Championed a $190 million investment in public education for Waterbury schools
  • $17.1 million to clean up brownfield sites and bring them back on the tax rolls
  • $7.2 million for Brass City Residences to transform a blighted area into a new neighborhood with affordable housing opportunities
  • $7 million for the Downtown Redevelopment Project
  • $30 million to expand the nursing program at the UConn Waterbury campus, creating good paying jobs and improving quality of care for patients at local hospitals
  • $1.4 million for the Mattatuck Museum
